Pummel's began on Lakeland Blvd. in 1954 selling TV & Appliances.
They moved quickly to Willo Plaza Shopping Center in Willoughby
for a brief stay where they took on a few lines of furniture.
Eva & Lester Pummel soon expanded to the present building at
8666 Mentor Ave. in the early 1960's where it serves as a
landmark in the heart of old Mentor, providing fine Home
Furnishings & Accessories to the surrounding communities.
Roberta Fulton, present owner and daughter of Eva & Lester,
worked for her parents for 16 years before purchasing the
business. Pummel's has grown with the times and even beyond
their greatest expectations. They feel that the key to the
store's success is due to Pummel's history of excellent customer
service, quality lines, and competitive prices.

Roberta, an ASID member, and her professional design staff take
pride in providing their customers with the highest quality of
home furnishings unique to our area. Finding unique pieces which
set them apart requires Spring & Fall buying trips to various
furniture markets from High Point, NC to San Francisco. For many
families Pummel's has become a tradition, even through 2nd & 3rd
generations. A commonly asked question is, why don't we expand
and go to a larger facility or a second location? Roberta feels
that doing so would compromise the personal touch on which the
business was built, and bigger is not always better.
As with any business, in order to
succeed, you need to do what you love and love what you do - and
that's exactly what we do - we love every aspect of the ever
changing furniture industry.
